Apply Eligibility
- Any NRB who is 18 years of old can open this account. {A minor (below 18 years of age) can open an account, but along with his legal guardian.}
- The NRB Should have legal resident / work permit.
- Should have to maintain either Savings or Current Account with BRAC Bank before opening this account.

Required Documents for A/C Opening
For Individual/Joint Account:
Document for Proof of Iidentification:
- 3 copies of passport size photo
- Photocopy of the first 6 pages of valid passport
- Photocopy of the valid work permit/employment visa (duly attested)
At Least one of the Following Documents (Photocopy):
- Utility Bill
- Driving License
- Residence Permit (Govt. issued Identity card)
- Credit Card Bills
- Rent Receipt
- Overseas Bank Statement
- Work ID
- Pay Slip
Proof of Address:
- Address on Passport
- Overseas Bank Statement (bank passbook will not be considered as a valid address proof)
- Rent Receipt along with duly stamped / registered lease deed. Lease deed should be valid as on date of account opening.
- Letter from existing banker, this letter should clearly specify that the mentioned address is the customer’s communication address and period of relationship with the bank which should be more than 3 months.
- Utility Bill, i.e. Electricity Bill, Landline telephone bill, Gas connection Bill, Water connection Bill.
- Driving license, ID issued by Government.

1. What is the minimum amount with which I can open an account?
- You can open all the Taka Accounts (except for Fixed Deposit) with “ZERO” balance. However, a minimum of Tk. 5, 000 must be sent to the account within 30 days of account opening. Otherwise, account will be closed without intimating to customer.
Probashi Abiram Account can be opened with minimum Tk.50, 000.
2. What is the frequency of Interest payment on my accounts?
3. Can I give a Mandate to a Resident Bangladeshi to operate my Probashi Accounts?
- A Mandate is given only for operating the account & not for opening the account. Further, the operations are restricted only for making legitimate local payments.
- Under no circumstance is the Mandate Holder allowed to repatriate the funds abroad or make payments or gifts on behalf of the Probashi Bangladeshi account holder.
4. Can Mandate Holders credit proceeds of foreign currency notes / bank notes & travelers Cheques to the Probashi Accounts?
5.What is the exchange risk that I'm exposed to under the different accounts?
- Since Probashi accounts are held in Taka, you will bear the exchange risk if the Taka depreciates and if you want to make an outward remittance (in line with exchange control regulations stipulated by Bangladesh Bank).
6. Can I repatriate funds back to foreign country from my Probashi Accounts?

8. Shall I be liable to pay government tax on interest income from Probashi Accounts?
- Yes. Currently it is 10% on the interest income.
